We may remember Dante today primarily for his Divine Comedy, but he was famously fascinated by the 12th-century French poet-musicians known as troubadours. He chose many examples of their writing as evidence of the beauty of the vernacular language. Several of these favorite Dante songs are featured here, eloquently and passionately performed by one of today's foremost early music ensembles. --David Vernier
