Publisher's description and from the back cover:
After the Battle of Hattin (1187), Acre became the capital of what was left of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. The Emperor Frederick II, who had been excommunicated several times, had been greeted there by volleys of offal and dung. St. Louis IX of France had also been hosted in Acre, and the brothers Nicolò and Matteo Polo had stopped there on their travels. The Pelrinages communes and the Pardouns de Acre, which have survived in a single manuscript at the British Library (Harley 2253), are an important testimony of the complex geopolitical landscape through which pilgrims wishing to visit the Holy Land had to move. This volume offers a new edition with a philological and linguistic analysis of the two texts by Fabio Romanini accompanied by an historical and cultural introduction and notes by Beatrice Saletti.
