Un viaggio suggestivo – tra Ovest ed Est – e una delle figure religiose più note e amate del mondo: San Nicola. Sessantadue marinai raccontano il viaggio dalle coste italiane a quelle armene, e viceversa. E, così facendo, confermano una tensione insopprimibile che l'essere umano, al di là di ogni credo spirituale, persegue: il bisogno di un'immagine (e una storia) capace di diventare allo stesso tempo concretezza e simbolo, protezione e forza. E dopo aver seguito i marinai tra mare, colori, avventure, comprendiamo che il viaggio di Nicola è oggi ancora più vivo: in Italia ed Europa, Russia e Stati Uniti; tra necessità di dialogo e intercultura; tra presente, passato e futuro.
